Litigation practice partner J.J. Richardson believes there are three essential qualities to being a good attorney: outstanding listening skills, exceptional organizational ability, and staying focused on the desired result. J.J. employs all of these skills when resolving conflicts in cases, and in one of his career-defining moments, obtained a seven-figure settlement for a family who were the innocent victims of random gun violence in a public venue. “I identify the best strategies and tactics to achieve the most favorable outcome for clients,” says J.J.

In 2014, J.J. was nominated by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council of the City of Pittsburgh to a position on the City’s three-member Zoning Board of Adjustment. As a member of the ZBA, J.J. conducts zoning hearings and rules on hundreds of applications for variances and special exceptions from the Pittsburgh Zoning Code each year. In his private practice, J.J. counsels, advises and represents real estate developers and individual landowners on zoning and land use matters outside of the City boundaries.
