Real Estate Tax Assessment Appeals

Bernstein-Burkley’s Real Estate practice group routinely represents commercial and residential real estate owners in the appeal of their real estate tax assessments. By understanding specific factors—including how market values are determined, the law with respect to uniform assessments, and the basis for challenging assessments—we are able to analyze and scrutinize our clients’ property assessments and work with each client to develop the best approach in presenting their case. We have filed appeals on behalf of and represented distribution centers, hotels, owner-occupied commercial properties, tenant-occupied commercial properties, retail properties, apartment buildings, industrial properties, data centers, vacant land, office properties, residential properties and many other types of properties. In a county-wide reassessment in Allegheny County, our Real Estate practice group argued over $135 million worth of assessment appeals.
