Robert S. Bernstein Rides for MS
Pittsburgh, PA – Robert S. Bernstein, managing partner of Bernstein-Burkley, P.C. has once again ridden to start to finish MS. The Escape to the Lake fundraising event benefits the Allegheny District chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
More than 1600 riders participated in this June fundraiser. The 150-mile trek begins in Cranberry Township and ends at Lake Erie. Escape to the Lake is a two-day event that raises funds and awareness to end MS. Bernstein, who is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Chapter, has been participating in this ride for many years. Multiple Sclerosis is the most widespread disease of the central nervous system among people 20 to 40 years of age. The disease afflicts his wife, Ellie and so the cause has become particularly near and dear to him. With the support of family, friends and colleagues, Bernstein’s team raised over $70,000, adding to the local chapter’s total of over $1 million. His team was the top fund-raising team for the fifth year in a row.
Bernstein said “It is really hard to do this, but at the end of the 150 miles, I have much greater appreciation for the feeling Ellie and many MS people have every day. MS stops people from moving. The MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t.” “As challenging as this is,” he went on, “it is a fun event, in which many of our family and friends participate. It’s like a two day party!”
