Robert S. Bernstein Named Receiver for
Spirit Harley-Davidson Franchise in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, PA – Keeping a troubled company operating is one of the most important functions a business bankruptcy attorney can serve. That’s why Bernstein-Burkley, P.C., is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Robert S. Bernstein has been named receiver for Spirit Harley-Davidson by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge David Wecht.
Receivership is a court action that occurs during litigation and allows a property to be preserved for the benefit of all concerned. In this case, Bernstein will work to bring stability to the Shaler motorcycle dealership until certain legal disputes it’s facing can be settled.
Spirit is one of the most popular Harley-Davidson dealerships on the East Coast, serving customers from all across the United States. It is known for its community involvement and charitable contributions. Spirit Harley-Davidson was recently named one of the “Top 100” Powersports Retailers in North America by Dealernews.
“I view the appointment as receiver as an opportunity to facilitate the operation of the Spirit dealership and that’s what I intend to do,” says Bernstein. “This is one of the premier Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country and I see no reason it can’t continue to thrive. The doors are open, there are motorcycles on the floor, and our customers should continue to expect top performance and quality products.”
Bernstein-Burkley, P.C., is a family-owned and managed law firm with a thirty-five-year history of providing expert counsel to clients throughout the country in the areas of creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, retail and commercial collections, lease enforcement, and mortgage foreclosure. In addition, the firm maintains expertise in the areas of banking, administrative, real estate, civil, business, and appellate law.
“A company is more than bricks and mortar,” says Bernstein. “It is an integral part of the fabric of its community. When a company is in turmoil, many people suffer. Receivership allows us to step in and keep things functioning until critical legal decisions have been made. It is our hope that we can bring a measure of peace of mind to everyone associated with Spirit Harley-Davidson.”
